Description
Scopolamine hydrobromide is generally used in clinical, for anesthesia, analgesia, cough, antiasthmatic, effective for motion sickness, and stiffness and tremor control in Parkinson’s disease.
Functions:
1. It inhibits salivary production more than atropine and reduces the heart rate.
2. It suppresses the cerebral cortex, causing drowsiness and forgetfulness.
3. The inhibitory effect of scopolamine on ocular smooth muscle and secretion of glands (salivary, bronchial, and sweat glands) is stronger than that of atropine.
4. Scopolamine is a peripheral anticholinergic drug.
5. Scopolamine can also block ganglion and nerve-muscle joints.
6. Relieve vasospasm and improve microcirculation.
7. The dilating pupil, regulating paralysis, and inhibiting secretion effect of scopolamine is 1 times stronger than atropine, but the duration is short.
8. Scopolamine appears to have a significant calming effect.
9. It has an obvious inhibitory effect on the center at the general therapeutic dose.
10. Hypnotic effects can be produced in large doses.
